Our Engagement Story

I don't think I've publicly written about how Logan proposed before so I guess I'll just do that here....

It was Friday October 31, 2008 (yes, Halloween.....the most romantic day of the year!) I had planned to hang out with some friends that day. My friend, Julie Bott, texted me saying she would pick me up and we would go have Julie-Abby time. We had been planning to do this for quite some time and Julie was really adamant about going so I didn't push it. I even got off work to hang out with her. So, I was getting ready and my mom looked at me and said: "maybe you should put on a nicer shirt" and I was already trying to hurry to get ready so I didn't bother to change. Julie came to get me and I was really excited to hang out with her! We got into the car and she said we would go to get smoothies, so we did =) It was really yummy! After smoothies, we were going to meet up with the girls to eat lunch BUT on our way there....Julie gets really quiet and says "Abby, I need to tell you something" and I was so shocked! I thought it was something really important, but she just said she had a package to give me from Logan. I was so excited because Logan had said I should be home since a package would be coming in the mail. I got even more excited because to me that meant I was getting two packages....one from Julie and one in the mail (little did I know....) So, Julie then told me the package was a scavenger hunt that Logan made since he wasn't there to celebrate our 6 month anniversary and Julie would be there to record all of it on her camera. Here's how it went....

Place #1: My house....there was a big box of long stemmed roses in there along with a note. I was so shocked and didn't even go into the house to show my parents. I just wanted to finish the rest of the scavenger hunt and see what more there was.

Place #2: The playground by my house. There was a rose and note there too. It was so cute. While Logan and I were dating, we would always go to the playground to have our talks and it was always really fun.

Place #3: The trampoline at Logan's....it had a note and a rose on it. This is my favorite place ever. We always spent a lot of time out there during the summer. It's where we had our first DTR! haha so it's a pretty memorable spot.

Place #4: The golfing range. This is where we went on our first (real) date....I call this the "real" date because he actually asked me, he didn't trick me into it (that's what he did for our actual "first" date.....I'll have to write about that one later). I went into the main store to find the rose and the note, and it was behind the cash register. The owner of the store came up to me and asked if I was Abby. I got so excited and said really loud: "Yes! That's my name!" and he gave me the rose, the note, and a nicely wrapped gift (it was a book).

Place #5: The bookstore. This is where we would always go after we got ice cream from Coldstone. We would walk around this place looking at books and finding things. It was so fun. It's a classic Logan-Abby date. The best part about this was finding the rose and the note. I looked everywhere for it. Finally, Julie said "maybe you should go to the front desk" so I went up there and asked the lady and she asked what my name was and handed over the rose and the note. She, then, went on to say how cute this idea was and said that the boy who dropped it off was really sweet. At that point, I got really suspicious!!! I was so anxious to know who was helping Julie get all of this ready....but I really thought it was one of our friends or Julie's younger brother.

Place #6: The battlefield. This place is really special because it was one of the first places we went as a couple and had a picnic. It was also the place where Logan asked what would happen if we fell in love....I walked a round everywhere trying to find this rose and the note....I even went inside the gift shop to look but couldn't find anything. Then, Julie told me to go look outside near the benches.

I walked around and then I spotted someone hiding behind a tree....and I had the biggest smile on my face because I knew exactly who it was...LOGAN!!! I ran over to see him and he tried to hide behind the tree (I guess I still had to find one more rose and note before he was going to surprise me...oh well). I was just so happy to see him. He gave me a big hug and kiss. I had no idea he would be coming home (I thought he wasn't coming home until Christmas) It was such a good surprise. Then, he whispered in my ear that he had something to ask me...so he tried as best he could (I wouldn't let go of him) to get down on one knee. He, then, pulled out a box and opened it and asked me to marry him. At this point, I was so overwhelmed and just so happy! I said "yes" and he gave me a big hug and kiss. I still had to look for the last rose so I found a bench and it had the rose and note saying "what if we fall in love?" oh it was soo cute! I, then, found out that while I was with Julie earlier Logan had asked my parents for permission to ask me. I couldn't believe it. It was all really happening! It was soooo awesome! Such a good day! We went to lunch with our friends and went back to our houses where our families congratulated us! We made phone calls and texted everyone. Then, we drove down to King's Dominion with some friends!! It was a really awesome day! <3>

My very FIRST post

Yeah! I'm entering the blogging world =P I don't really know what I'm getting myself into especially since Logan and I are not even married yet, but we will be really soon...in like 73 days or something! So, I'll be a CORBETT eventually! We're getting married May 23, 2009 in the DC Temple. We're really excited =)

I'm actually in Utah right now for my spring break. Although, Logan doesn't have a spring break so I've been going to class with him....boring! I'm sitting in his Accounting class right now. He's so studious. It's really cute.

The trip has been really fun so far. We've gotten so much wedding stuff done =) I got my wedding dress out in Utah. It's currently being altered. It should be ready this Friday. We also came up with our invitation design, thanks to Jen. She did such a great job with our engagement photos, our guest book, and our invitations! She's amazing!

Other wedding plans are starting to come together which is great! =)
