Special Weekend

We had a triple whammie weekend - Logan's family visited, celebrated Logan's birthday, and had Amelia's baby blessing at church. It was a busy weekend, but a really special one too.

We celebrated Logan's birthday with a cold, fun day at the arcade playing games and riding go-carts. Who says 27 year-olds can't have a birthday party at the arcade? It was a blast, especially everyone having a run on the go-carts. Later that night, we had dinner and cake (shrimp and funfetti cake for Logan's birthday - tradition).

The next day (Sunday, December 8th) our little Amelia Linh was blessed at church. Daddy gave her a wonderful blessing. What a special day it was! We really missed having my parents there too (they couldn't come because of weather conditions in VA). Amelia looked so beautiful in her white ruffle dress (made by me) and headband (made by her Grammy Corbett). We just love this baby girl and feel so blessed to have her part of our family.

Of course, Hudson was running around so he couldn't be in this family picture

Thanksgiving 2013

I've been so behind with blogging lately. I sometimes question whether on not to keep going with it, but I really love being able to look back at all that we have done in the past years. It makes for a nice family history.

Anyway, this year we decided to stay put for the holidays. We have been traveling and going elsewhere for Thanksgiving and Christmas in the past which we really enjoyed, but we decided this year to stay home especially with having a new little one.

My siblings (Amanda and Tommy) came down to visit for a few days during Thanksgiving break! It was so nice seeing them and it was also their first time meeting little Amelia. We had our friends, the Heltons, over for Thanksgiving dinner. It was nice since we were able to split some of the meal up, so not one person/family was doing all the cooking - worked out great! The food was yummy and the company was wonderful too. It was a great first Thanksgiving at home!

Growing Amelia

It's crazy how fast weeks can come and go. Amelia is 2 months old now! She is one content baby, and is still the sweetest little thing around.

Here are her 2 month stats:

Weight: 11 pounds 4 ounces (70%)
Height: 22 1/2 inches (47%)

She is proving to be a big girl already with some seriously kissable cheeks. Crossing my fingers that I'll get a roly poly, cuddle bug this time around. :) She is doing great, minus getting her first cold two weeks ago - just a little congestion. I think she got it from all of us being sick (Hud with croup, Logan and I had colds). She nurses every 4 hours and sleeps great at night. She'll sleep from about 10PM - 4/5AM without a feeding. It's been great.

I am surprising myself with this baby. I thought I would be bawling with the adjustment from one to two kids, but I have only cried once. Amazing. With Hudson, I remember crying a few times in the first few weeks because I was exhausted and so unsure of myself. It's amazing how much more confident I have become with this second little one. Maybe it's because I just knew what to expect.

Of course, I am still in the early stages with Amelia - who still sleeps a lot throughout the day. And, I count myself very lucky to have a toddler who takes a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoons so I can get some rest and things done. There's something so magical in our home when both my babies are peacefully asleep at the same time.

Here are a bunch of pictures from the last two months. Enjoy!

Halloween 2013

For this Halloween, Hudson was Luke Skywalker. Amelia was Princess Leia and Cinderella - she's a girl so two costumes/outfit changes are totally acceptable. :)

I made costumes for both kiddos. Logan made the lightsaber using a pool noodle and PVC pipe - brilliant!

I wish I had a better picture of the kids in their costumes, but sadly this was the only one we got before our church Halloween party.

love my little princess!

Halloween morning we went to Krispy Kreme to get donuts - yummy!

We didn't get a chance to carve pumpkins this year, so I let Hudson paint his and his sister's.

Halloween night was spent trick-or-treating with friends

going to the farm

Hudson loves animals, but farm animals are his favorite. He loves to sing "Old MacDonald had a Farm" and will ask to go to the "e i e i o farm" almost every day. So, we decided to take him to the Ganyard Hill Farm in Durham the Saturday morning before Halloween. It was a beautiful fall day! He loved it and so did we! But what is not to love about a giant farm to play at? There was plenty to do and enjoy - feeding goats, hayrides, corn mazes, pumpkin patch, and a giant corn pit!

Amelia's newborn photos

We just got Amelia's newborn pictures back, and I can't resist sharing them. I'm a little bias, but I think she is just about the sweetest thing ever. Of course, this photo shoot took a lot longer than Hudson's (see Hudson's newborn photos here) because of the outfit changes and all - having a girl to dress up is so fun!

Logan's cousin (Addie) took these newborn photos for us and we LOVE them! Thank you, Addie. Check out her FB page here.

These photos were taken when Amelia was just 5 days old. Here are some of my favorites. Get ready for picture overload...
