baby crafts

Our little guy is getting a bunch of good stuff. I have been busy sewing for the past week, and so far I have made a car seat cover and nursing cover (pictures to come)! I am also going to make a baby quilt VERY soon. I'm not going to lie, I am sooo proud of myself for getting this all started and finished within a week or so. I just want to get as much done before our move next month. Hopefully, I can get the packing and cleaning done for our apartment too--yikes! Don't worry, mom, I'll make Logan do all the heavy lifting :)

Plus, once we get settled in North Carolina we'll be working on the baby's room. Yay! We came up with a great idea and we're excited to try it out!

Here is our inspiration....
Doesn't that look so perfect?
Yes, we think so too!

Happy Weekend :)

We are going to visit Logan's grandparents one more time before our move, go to a wedding, and enjoy the spring air--it'll be in the high 70's! So exciting!

Question: For all you moms and/or pregnant women out there, what car seat do you have or recommend? Help us! We are debating between a BabyTrend Flex-Loc or Graco SnugRide 35 or Chicco KeyFit 30.

Crafty Abby!!!

Yes, that should be my new nickname. It has such a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Crafty Abby:) So, as you might have guessed, I have been crafting up a storm lately which is so odd seeing as I have a HUGE assignment for school due this week that I am not even remotely close to being done with. I don't know what it is; I get an idea in my head and then I get SO excited to see it through. I wish I could say the same for my homework assignments and housekeeping duties (e.g. our dishes have yet to be done since last night..uhh). Crafts are so much more fun than homework and housekeeping anyway, right? I think so! Here are some fun crafts/projects that I have been up to the last couple weeks....

I finished making another skirt! This time this one has POCKETS! It was difficult to sew those dang pockets, but I did it and that's all that matters--okay? I have a bunch of new patterns that I need to try out, so be on the look out for more sewing projects:)

I am in the midst of sewing this breastfeeding cover for my sweet neighbor who lives below us (tutorial here). She is expecting a baby boy the end of this month--so excited for her:)

Remember these from last year? I love them so much; I just had to bring them out of storage and display them again! I love FALL decor!

I made this candy corn wreath for our front door. Doesn't it look amazing? I found the tutorial from the Woman's Day magazine while I was in line at the grocery store. It immediately drew my eye because of how colorful and simple it is. I loved it at first glance and so I made it during craft night with some friends. I think it looks great:)

And, lastly, this isn't a craft but I just have to point out that we have a 47lb pumpkin outside our door! It only cost $8.50 at WinCo, but we're so proud of it (or should I say, Logan is proud of it since he found it and brought the giant thing home).

That is all for now, but be forewarned...I am already formulating ideas for Thanksgiving and Christmas so stay tuned:)

Go me! I finished!!

I am slowly tackling my list of 23 goals! Yay! I finished making this skirt the other day.

don't mind that I look incredibly tired--I was just so happy that I actually finished!

here's a better picture of what it looks like on me!

Things I learned about sewing:
  1.  Don't put your finger anywhere near the sewing needle--I learned the hard way and my finger started bleeding. Ouch!
  2. Don't start sewing at 9pm because you'll stay up all night trying to finish your project.
  3. Be patient.
  4. Ironing out your material really helps to keep your fabric together.
It only took a couple hours to make, but most of the time was spent getting the sewing machine all put together (with Logan's help) and I also decided at the last minute to forgo the pockets. Do you know how difficult it is to sew pockets? Geez! I will have to try again next time. Overall, I am pretty impressed with how it turned out. I am definitely going to make more of these skirts.
