soccer game

My little brother, Tommy, plays soccer for the University of Mary Washington. He had a game against North Carolina Wesleyan College - which is only an hour from where we live. So, we packed some snacks, water, Hudson's baby things, and headed to the game! My whole family was there and it was so much fun! Hudson kept getting passed around between my mom, dad, and sister. They were more interested in Hudson than the game (no offense, Tommy) and if you know my family that is not like them - they don't get easily distracted when it comes to sports, especially watching Tommy (their golden athletic child). I guess you can say Hudson is the favorite now :)

It was an entertaining game to watch though. They ended in a 1-1 draw, but it did go into double overtime - intense! You can read all about it here. Thanks mom, dad, and Amanda for  making the drive to watch Tommy play and to see us!

I love this photo. It would have been better had my mom been in the picture though. And yes, my whole family is banking on Hudson being a soccer player - just like his uncle :)

Okay, so I lied about not posting a picture of my new hair-cut. This picture was too good to pass up because I just love pictures with my pretty sister. Do you think we look alike? I think you can tell we are sisters, but we have very different facial features now that we are older. Your thoughts?

Aunt Amanda sure loves her nephew. She held him the whole time while he was asleep - not wanting to put him down. So sweet.

Hudson loves to stand up. He has the strongest little legs.

Grandpa Sam & Grandma Lynn love their little grandson. Hudson loves them too because they got him a bunch of new toys :)

Mule Days

We went to celebrate Mule Days down in Benson (which is where Logan's work office will be eventually). It was fun getting to see all the mule; people were riding them on the streets - even little kids! There were many vendors and we walked around a bit to see all of them. We ate dinner there too - pork sandwiches and ribbon fries! It was also fun to watch the little concert at the pavilion later that night. We had a great time being out and exploring the quaint town of Benson.

Aren't my boys the cutest?

This is the little stage set up where the band performed a couple songs by Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, etc. It was great!

I know, I know...my poor boy is losing his hair :( I decided to chop all my hair off too - just so Hudson wouldn't feel left out. This is the last picture of me with my hair long and in a ponytail. Not sure if I will be posting my new hair cut - it is rather short and will take some time getting use to.

Look at all those mules!

Hudson = 2 months

Our sweet little boy is 2 months old today! It's amazing how much love we feel for such a little person. This last month went by so fast. Hudson is such a laid-back baby and we are very grateful for that. He is finally settling into a routine (some days are better than others, obviously), but we are learning little by little. It has been quite an adventure so far!

Here are a few fun facts about little Hudson:

Stats (2 month):
Weight: 11 pounds 6 ounces (39th percentile)
Height: 22 1/2 inches (29th percentile)
Head Circumference: 40 cm (47th percentile)
  • He likes to grab and hold onto my shirt in his death grab. It's like he wants to make sure I don't go anywhere. It's super cute, but also a little difficult to get him to release my shirt especially when he is asleep.
  • He is wearing size 1 diapers and fits into his 0-3 month old clothes nicely.
  • He is a onesie type of kid - meaning he doesn't really like wearing pants (unless it is for church and when we go somewhere nice).

  • He LOVES listening to Taylor Swift. He cried for 20 minutes straight on the car ride home the other day, but as soon as we put in the Taylor Swift CD he calmed down almost immediately and went to sleep.
  • He still loves bath time.
  • He is easy to calm down when he starts crying.
  • He likes to sit and watch mom cook in the kitchen.
  • He always poops right after we change him. Seriously.
  • He has a fake cry (yes, we are getting better at distinguishing his crying cues). It is cute and sounds a little pathetic, but there is nothing wrong with him usually. He just does it to let us know he is still in the room.
  • He is trying to be a thump sucker, but can't quite grasp sucking one finger so he puts his whole fist in his mouth.
  • He already loves watching sports, especially BYU football.
  • He spits up on daddy at least twice a week, but only when daddy is in his work clothes.
  • He loves trying to stand up; he has the strongest little legs (soccer player in the making, yes?)
  • He has a few nicknames already: Huddy Wuddy, Hudster, chub chub (because yes he is starting to fill out), stink butt (only mom calls him that when he has a dirty diaper though).
  • He wakes up between 6-7 a.m. - he is definitely a morning person!
  • He is going to be a bookworm (just like his parents) because he loves being read to.

We sure love our boy!
Happy 2 months, Hudson!

Birthday #24

My birthday just happened to be on 9-10-11 this year. Awesome, huh? It was also on a Saturday - score! Logan was such a sweet husband and took the day off (yes, he will be working 6 days a week for awhile). We went to Costco for Saturday samples (my favorite) and then we went to the NC Science Museum. It was really fun. Hudson slept the whole time, so he missed seeing all the live animals and the exhibits. The museum was really nice and it is one of the largest in the southeast part of the country! We had a great time. Of course, I would walk around learning new things and then come back to tell Logan all about it.

Me: "Oh, hey Logan - did you know that poisonous dart frogs are not venomous in captivity?"
Logan: "Yeah, I did know that."
Me: "Well, did you know that (insert factual information here)?"
Logan: "Yep, I knew that too."
**My husband is such a smarty pants; it is hard to get excited when telling him new things I learn because he somehow already knows about it (especially in regards to animals, business, math, etc).  Oh well. I am still a better speller - at least I have that going for me :)

After the museum, we headed to the mall so I could pick out a gift. On the ride there, Hudson was a monster. He cried and cried and cried until we finally parked and I took him out of his car seat. He definitely didn't want to be in that car seat anymore. I changed him and fed him at the mall (yes, my first public feeding - it wasn't as bad as I thought). We shopped for a bit. I picked out a new pair of capris (totally back to my pre-pregnancy size and weight - hallelujah!) and a new watch (that I still need to go back to get). Logan got me some cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory, a new water bottle, and candy.

Later that night, Logan made dinner - waffle sundaes! It was delicious When we were first married, Logan asked for waffle sundaes for dinner and I had no idea what they were. He explained them to me (waffles with vanilla ice cream and maple syrup on top - duh). Well, I honestly didn't think it was dinner-material. I mean, ice cream with dinner? Luckily, I talked to his mom and she told me that the family had waffle sundaes all the time for dinner (it's like dinner and dessert combined)! So, I tried it and needless to say - it is my favorite now! After dinner, we sat down to watch the BYU vs. Texas football game. I wish BYU would have won, but it was such a close game - really fun to watch! During half-time, we had red velvet cheesecake in lieu of birthday cake this year. It was so so good.

So, there you have it. My 24th birthday was great :) I don't know if I like being 24 yet. It just sounds weird and one of those in between birthdays. You know, like being 17 - you are not an adult, but you are not a kid either. Same with being 24. You are not yet 25 (grown-up status), but you are not a young hip early 20's adult either. Oh well! I'm sure I will get use to it, right?

Sadly, we only got two pictures from my birthday. Taken at the NC Science Museum:

What a great birthday to spend with my husband and little baby! I loved it!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes :)

BYU Graduate

Look what came in the mail the other day....

So, I guess, that makes it official! Logan is a BYU graduate - a semester early too! I am so proud of him! Unfortunately, we were not in Provo long enough to get the fancy cap and gown to watch him walk across the stage. I really wanted to see him do that, but of course husband did not care. He says the diploma is all that matters - and yes, how true!

Congrats to you, hubby :) You rock!

P.S. Logan is home from his training trip and had his first "real" week on the job.
He did great!

Hudson's Blessing Day

Since we were in Virginia this past weekend, we had Hudson's baby blessing (Sunday, September 4th) in our home ward so that our families and friends could attend. It was a beautiful Sunday morning! Hudson was dressed in a darling blessing outfit (also worn by Logan when he was blessed as a baby). He also had his white blanket made by Logan's Grandma Corbett. He looked adorable.

The blessing was wonderful. Logan did an amazing job and Hudson didn't cry during it too (that was my main worry). Logan's dad said he just looked so content staring up at the ceiling - probably because there were angels attending him that day :) How blessed we are to have this sweet little baby in our lives. He is absolutely perfect!

 Isn't he sweet?

Hudson is so lucky to have amazing grandparents on both sides of the family :)

 Hudson with his beautiful grandmas!

Thank you to everyone that came! We were missing a few siblings though - Heidi, Carson, Amanda, and Tommy - wish you guys could have been there too!

Holden Beach

A couple years ago, Logan's family started going down to Holden Beach with other families from their church ward. Some how Logan and I were not around to join them during those years, but this year was different - we were only 3 hours away, didn't have school/work, etc. So, being the brave souls that we are...we decided to brace Hurricane Irene by driving down to Holden Beach and spending time with the Corbetts. We ended up only staying one night because of the evacuation, but it was still fun getting to swim in the ocean with the HUGE waves! Hopefully next year we can stay a little longer :)
