Halloween

I love Halloween! It is after all, the best "engaged" day of the whole year (we got engaged exactly one year ago on Halloween!!) Pretty neat, huh?

For Halloween this year, we were running around like mad nerds!! We cleaned the house, did laundry, made home-made root beer/chili/cornbread, and organized our ward's Halloween Party. And, wow, it went off without a hitch! It turned out great! Logan and I were really happy with how everything went, and even happier with how much fun everyone had. It was a great activity complete with a chili cook-off, trick-or-treating, donut-eating contest, pumpkin contest, and costume contest. So fun! We really enjoy our calling as the Activities Committee Chairs. It's been overwhelming at times, but nothing we can't handle.

After our ward activity, we went over to our friends--Maddison & Adrian's---for another Halloween Party! My cute husband made some dirt pudding....with gummy worms & graveyards (a.k.a. Milano cookies). It looked weird, but totally delicious! We played so many fun games and had a great time hanging out with our married friends.

And, last but not least.....my family's puppy (Lexi) turned 1 years-old on Halloween! She is the cutest, sweetest puppy in the whole world! I miss her so much and I tell Logan how much I miss her all the time (to the extent that Logan has repeatedly looked on the internet for dogs on sale)!! I see a puppy in our future.....or kids....or snakes.....well technically, we already have a snake (don't worry, it's a fake)!!

Maddison & Adrian gave out prizes at their Halloween Party, and Logan got this fake snake that grows in water. So, we now have a snake in our bathtub that is slowly growing! I will take a picture of it once it reaches its maximum growth which should be in the next couple days. Logan loves it which is good because I told him that it would be as close as he is going to get to the real thing. Oh, I am such a good wife---don't you think? Don't answer that.

Fall......

is my favorite season for a number of reasons:

1) my birthday is September 10th =P
2) snuggling
3) Fall clothes (i.e. sweaters, boots, etc.)
4) warm foods/drinks (i.e. pie, chili, apple cider, hot chocolate, etc.)
5) Fall colors (especially yellow, my favorite color)
6) my favorite holiday = Thanksgiving!!
7) Halloween = our engagement anniversary, my puppy Lexi's birthday, costumes, and tons of yummy candy
8) football season
9) pumpkins
10) perfect weather...not too hot and not too cold....absolutely perfect

(**Note: I wrote this post while it was snowing outside, but I did not notice until after I wrote this. So much for Fall weather......blah).

Last night we had FHE (family home evening) with our good friends, Allison & John. We decided to carve/paint pumpkins. It was so fun. We bought two medium sized pumpkins from this grocery store called Maceys....for a grand total of $2.38! Score!

I decided to try something different with my pumpkin this year! Pumpkin carving can be rather smelly, slimy, and messy which is why I opted for spray-paint instead! Originally, I wanted to make a polka-dot pumpkin! Awesome, right? Wrong. Logan, yes my husband, ruined it. Well, maybe it was my fault too. I guess we just sprayed a little too much paint on the pumpkin so it leaked through the masking tape I was using as polka-dots. So, I just spray-painted it all black, wrote/drew on it, tied a ribbon on top, and called it good. I think it looks so cute! Logan carved Pac-Man for his pumpkin and it is awesome too.

Of course, we had to get separate pumpkins--not like Allison & John (who worked together & shared)--nope, not the Corbett Clan. Logan and I are in a "competitive relationship." He read that in his horoscope one time while we were dating and it's just kind of stuck. Let me ask you guys though....who do you think has the better pumpkin?

It looks like Logan's Pac-Man is about to eat my pumpkin. Awesome.

Here's mine. Isn't it pretty?
Logan was SO proud of his pumpkin!

Ewee. Don't mind that I look horrible.

This is a picture of us before church one day...aww!

Poor husband of mine. He got hit in the face by a helmet some random guy threw at the ESPN College Game Day last Saturday. You can kind of see it in this picture.

Camping!

Originally, we were hoping to go up Provo Canyon for our camping trip but because it was Fall Break plus a really nice weekend everything was full! Lame! So, we opted for the Utah Lake State Park which was a much better site. There was no one around us which was really great except we found out later that we weren't suppose to be in that part of the park. Ooops! The park ranger was nice though and let us stay.

We cooked hobo dinners (or tin foil dinners) over the fire. This was a first for me, and it was surprisingly very good! Our friends, the Wings', came by later and brought s'mores for us....yummy! Thanks guys!

However, the most memorable and probably the most horrific part of the evening happened right after dinner:

I had to use the restroom and proceeded to go (there was a restroom building type thing). Of course, I got scared because it was all dark in there and....of course, I convinced my husband to go with me. So, I walk up to the door and Logan opens the door with me following behind when this BAT out of no where begins to attack me. No joke. It literally came straight for my face and I screamed so loud!

Logan rushed over to make sure I was okay. Here's how the conversation went:

Logan: Oh my gosh, babe, are you okay?
Abby: (panicked and shocked) Um yeah, I think so.
Logan: Did you get hurt?
Abby: No. I'm okay
Logan: Do you still need to go the bathroom?
Abby: Uhhh, not so much anymore.
Logan & Carson: (laughing hysterically) Awww, Abby!

It was still a fun night, nonetheless!!

CREATE!!

I've been feeling rather domestic lately (or, lets say...creative instead) and so here are some of the things I've made in the last month or so. I love finding things to bake or make. It is so fun. Everyone can be creative and create something wonderful. If you don't believe me, just listen to the video from one of the apostles, President Uchtdorf, of the church I belong to: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

I made the letter "C" (to represent our last name, of course). I used matching fabrics and cut out the "C" using a template from Microsoft Word. It looks great on our bookcase.

I made my very first Red Velvet Cake. Absolutely from scratch.

I even decorated (red icing & sprinkles) even though my writing looks awful.

We made chocolate pretzels with m&m's that were to die for! It made a lovely gift.

I really LOVE these. I made them using empty Cream Soda bottles and fall colored ribbons.

Oh, this is just the beginning of my creativeness....
