The Big V-Day:)

We celebrated our 3rd Valentine's Day together. Logan is so thoughtful and he made the whole day just wonderful! He surprised me with a Jamba Juice at work (my favorite). Later that night, we got all dressed up and had dinner at the elegant Chef's Table. It was very pricey and very classy, but it was a fun experience! We loved it!

After we got home, we opened presents. I got orange roses (love them), beautiful earrings, chocolates, and a sweet card with a poem Logan wrote just for me. Plus, Logan said I could go to the mall and pick out a new dress! My husband is so sweeeeet! Logan got a new tie (tradition). I've given him a new tie since our first Valentine's Day together, and it's just kind of stuck so I am doing that every year now. He also gets to pick out a new comic book (he loves comic strips) at the bookstore.

It was such a nice Valentine's Day. We loved getting to spend time together and really enjoy the holiday. During dinner, we were noticing how there were no babies around and it made us think about how different our lives will be next Valentine's Day with a baby!! Do we have any volunteers for babysitting? If not, that's okay. I think we already decided to spend next Valentine's Day in....take-out Chinese food, building a fort in the living room, making Grandma Corbett's homemade strawberry ice cream, watching a movie, and snuggling with our little baby:) We can't wait!

inspiration = thrifting

I've never been good at finding deals or bargain shopping. NEVER. I find something and if I absolutely love it (after a few weeks of thinking about it...maybe), I buy it. Done. I don't care if it's $40 for a super cute dress or dark jeans that actually fit (meaning they are perfect length and make my bottom look good). I will dish out the dough to pay for it because I desperately NEED to have it.

On the other hand, my Aunt Mary is amazing at bargain shopping. Literally. I remember as a kid going shopping with my aunts and spending hours at Nordstrom's or Old Navy, just because they were looking for the perfect deals. Yes, I was spoiled by my aunts. What can I say?

I have resolved to be more economical (thanks to my husband, who is an Economics major). I am going to start thrift/bargain shopping. I just read this article and it inspired me. I don't consider myself very fashionable or creative when it comes to my clothing of choice, but I am going to do it! I will do it! Read this article. I found it highly inspiring and helpful. I hope you do too.

I am amazed at how someone (Sydney @ The Daybook) can find this at a thrift store:

Doesn't it look trashy? It's wrinkly. It has shoulder pads (shoulder pads, people). The sleeves are too long. I could go on and on about why I would NOT buy this.

BUT....

She somehow managed to turn it into this. Seriously? I know. It's amazing!

So, here's to a new way of doing things: thrifting (and yes, that is not even a word but neither was "Jimmered" and now look at).

in 3 weeks....

We find out if our baby is a BOY or GIRL!!!! We can hardly wait!!

I just wanted to post this so everyone can start making predictions now. Let us know what you think! You can vote on the poll to the left or you can leave your comments. Don't worry; we will definitely share the good news on here once we find out!

Author's Note: Logan wants a boy; I want a girl. We're both the oldest child in our immediate families, so I think it would be fun to have a girl as the first child while husband thinks having a boy as the oldest is best. Time will tell!!!

Thanks for all your support everyone!

just one of those days

I am tired and cranky. My body aches from staying up late finishing homework. I have a million and one things to do, but I just want to be home curled up in my pjs watching a movie. It is freezing outside. Oh, and it is STILL Wednesday! Yes, only Wednesday! I am feeling a little down, if you can't already tell. So, here is what I am going to do...I'm going to make a list (I love making lists, if you can't already tell) of all the things I'm feeling grateful for this week! Ready, go.

I'm grateful for....

-husband who makes my lunch every morning
-mom who calls just to talk to me
-having a job that I like going to Monday-Friday
-brother who talks to me on Skype every week
-being half way done with my master's degree
-getting e-mails from my brother-in-law who is serving a mission
-husband who runs out to scrape the ice off the car AND drives me to work every morning
-pregnancy (a great one, might I add)
-awesome neighbors who invite us over for FHE
-Heavenly Father who watches over me
-husband who does 3 loads of laundry because I am too tired and have too much homework (and yes, he folds it all too)

Okay, that was great! I'm starting to feel much better.
Happy Wednesday!
